girls weekend: warm springs, va

I spent the weekend with some dear college friends in Warm Springs, VA for a little girls weekend! Ginna, Emily, and I drove up to VA on Friday to meet Ashley, who is currently living there with her family. Ashley had lots of events planned for us upon our arrival. First of which was soaking in the Jefferson pools. One minor detail Ashley forgot to mention: bathing suits were optional. It was an experience to say the least.
We soaked in the relaxing water for an hour and then headed to check into our inn at the Anderson Cottage. This inn has a lot of history. It also has beautiful claw foot tubs with no shower or shower curtain which made for interesting bathing experiences. Water all over the floor! It had a lot of charm.
Then we drove to Fort Lewis for a family style southern dinner. Ribs, barbecue chicken, cheese grits, garlic cheddar chive biscuits, green beans, salad, peach pound cake... it was a feast!

The weather was perfect all weekend. Saturday morning, we went for a nice hike and then back to the inn for a picnic with Ashley's sister, brother-in-law, and her adorable 3 nephews. We had a pretty fierce game of soccer, and then watched the boys play in the creek.

Later that afternoon we got ready for dinner and sat out on the porch of the inn sipping delightful cocktails that Ashley made.

We walked over to the Gritsmill for a fabulous dinner and the best creamy vinaigrette I've ever had. We got the recipe!

And then to the Warm Springs Inn for dessert! The lobby was so eclectic and fun.

Ginna snapped this shot with her phone. I think it sums up the entire weekend. Lots and lots of laughter. It was fun spending time with special friends in such a quaint little town.
